What do I need to pack?

If you're planning a trek to the jungle, it's important to pack light, but also make sure you have the essentials. Based on experience, here are some recommended items to include in your survival pack:

Essentials:

Mosquito repellent (e.g. Maxi Deet)
Itch cream (e.g. Benadryl)
First aid kit
Headlamp or flashlight with red light setting
Waterproof poncho or light water-resistant jacket
Hat: preferably a large round-brimmed one for 360-degree coverage
1 pair of trainers or hiking shoes
1 pair sandals or crocks
1 or 2 towels for showering
1 or 2 pairs of lightweight pants (darker colours are best)
Battery power charger for recharging electronic devices (dual plug-in and a good solar is best)
Water bottle with filter (the primary source of water at our centre is a fresh water well, which is safe to drink)
Standard toiletries (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.)
Waterproof backpack for electronics and sensitive items
Mobile phone provider plan adjusted for international travel or a purchased cell phone chip
At least enough clothes for 5 days (darker colours are best)
Bumbag that goes around your waist

Journal
Downloaded movies or music (inspirational in nature)
Audiobooks or reading material (inspirational in nature)
Travel-friendly exercise items (e.g. yoga mat, jump rope, exercise bands, etc.)
